Lalbagh Kellah (Fort):
The previous name of Lalbagh Kellah (Fort) was the fort of Aurangabad now it is known as Lalbagh Fort which was built in 1678 AD by the then Viceroy of Bengal Prince Mohammad Azam, son of the Mughal Emperor Aurangazeb. Lalbagh fort is in the old town of Dhaka at Lalbagh. The fort has a three storied construction with slender minarets at the South Gate. It has many secret way and a mosque of massive structure. Outstanding among the monuments of the Lalbagh Fort are the grave of Pari Bibi and an auditorium. Now it is a museum which is open for the tourist from 10 am to 5 pm Sunday to Friday. It is closed on Saturday.
Ahsan Manjil:
Ahsan Manjil is the rich cultural heritage of Bangla Nawabs family. It is located on the bank of the river Buriganga. It was the home of the Nawabs. Nawab Abdul Gani renovate this building in the year 1872 and named it after his son Khaza Ahasanullah. From then it is known as Ahsan Manjil. This royal palace also known as Pink Palace.
The renovated Ahsan Manjil a memorial of enormous chronological beauty. the furniture and household articles and utensils that were used by the Nawab family are stored in twenty three galleries of thirty one rooms. This museum open for all tourist. Except Thursday it opened at 9 am till 5 pm from Saturday to Wednesday and 3 to 5 pm on Friday.
Bangladesh national museum is located at the central point of the city area in Shahbag. Though established in 1913 it was renovated and opened in the year 1983. The museum has a large number of interesting anthologies including sculptures and paintings of the Hindu, Buddhist and Muslim era as well as writing of the Holy Quran in Arabic and Persian letters and Bengali works in the Arabic script. It has a huge collection of old coins, metal images, books on art, silver filigree works etc. It’s open from Friday to Wednesday, at 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. for the tourist.
