Tourist Spots of Comilla

Moinamoti

Moinamoti, Lalmai and Shalbon Bihar are the main tourist spot of Comilla. They are a series of hillock, where the Northern part is called Moinamoti and the Southern part is called Lalmai and Shalbon Bihar is in the Middle of Lalmai and Moinamoti, which was established in 8th century by King Buddadev. It is consists of 115 cells, built around a spacious courtyard with cruciform temple in the centre facing its only gateway complex to the north resembling that of the Paharpur Monastery. Kotila Mura located on a flattened hummock, about 5 km north of Salban Bihar inside the Comilla Cantonment is a charming Buddhist establishment. Here three stapes are found side by side representing the Buddhist "Trinity" or three jewels (Buddha, Dharma and Sangha). Charpatra Mura is an secluded small oblong temple situated about 2.5 km. north-west of kotila Mura. The only approach to the temple is from the East through a gateway, which leads to a spacious hall. The Moinamoti museum where store up the historical things of 7th & 8th centuries like copper plates, gold and silver coins and 86 bronze objects. Over 150 bronze statues have been recovered mostly from the monastic cells, bronze stupors, stone sculptures and hundreds of terracotta plaques found in Lalmai & Moinamoti. Mainamati is only 114 km. from Dhaka City and is just a day's trip by road on way to Chittagong.

BARD

Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD):

Basically it is a training institution of Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development. This is one of the most important academic institutions for conducting research and action research; execute projects and pilot experimentation and imparting training in the diversified areas of rural development in Bangladesh. It is locked in a beautiful place of Comilla District. BARD is one of the main tourist spot of Comilla. Because the famous Comilla Model has been developed for sustained development. Besides institutional quality, the beautiful gardens and designed plantations of various trees are really pleasurable. Certainly it is one of the good venues in Bangladesh where you can arrange seminar, symposiums and workshops. BARD has excellent space facilities for over 250 persons and its dining hall provides quality foods. So BARD is a remarkable tourist spot of Comilla.
